110th Canton Fair China Open on Oct.15 2011

110th Canton Fair is coming, will open on Oct.15 in Guangzhou. Since 108th Canton Fair, you can find some solar-related products, some BIPV, but most are photovoltaic modules and solar panels. At a glance of the exhibitors on Canton Fair website , there're more BIPV products. The solar roof manufacturer, Shandong Fangxing, as I reported last time , will exhibit their new generation solar slate tile on 110th. Fangxing is the only solar roof tile producer in China. The solar slate tile is an integration of slate roof tile and PV module, with converter, battery and some other gadgets. The output power is regularly 30W each piece which contains several monocrystalline silicon cells. You may find other interesting solar products, such as toys, bike, etc. May you have a great time in Canton Fair!

MIT Students Let Roof Tile Changing Color Upon Temperature

After my last report on the MIT's innovation Solar bottle bulbs , here comes a new technology on roof tile - Thermeleon roof tile . A team of graduate students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology think they might have an answer, a roof tile which turns white when it's hot and black when it's cold. According to report, the Thermeleon tiles use commercial polymers and solvents encapsulated between a clear plastic top layer and a black backing layer. When temperature is going down to a point, the polymer remains dissolved in the solvent, letting the black backing show through. When the tile gets hot, the polymer condenses into a white, heat-reflecting surface. Obviously, Thermeleon tile is good at controling housing temperature. It works like a cooling system in Summer, and a heater in Winter. However, how much it can help family cut electricity bill is still a question. It's a great idea, isn't it? The MIT students are pushing construction industry t

Greece Supply Solar Power After Germany Quit

After the disaster of Fukushima plant in Japan early this year, Germany decided to shut down all 17 of the country's nuclear reactors over 11 years. Meanwhile, Germany is looking for the countries which can provide solar clean energy. According to SolarDaily news , Greece plans to develop some 20,000 hectares of solar power parks in a bid to export renewable energy to Germany, a report said on Saturday. George Papandreou, Greek Prime Minister, said they're planning to build the world's largest solar park next January. The reason why Greece is positive in this project is the current high unemployment rate and shrink of economy.
