Renewable Energy Solar Glass Roofing Tile

In 2010, the most impressive innovation in roof tile development probably is solTech, which will convert solar energy to 'passive' heat.

Its working theory is simple. Air below the glass tile is heated by the sun and redirected for use by the central heating system. The system works with air-based and water-based heating systems, including, for example, a ground source heat pump, air heat pump, pellet boiler, oil boiler, or electric boiler.

The SolTech solar energy system, solTech System, is the flexible solar heating system that works for all types of buildings such as offices, hotels, appartment buildings and industrial buildings.

The system is designed to be integrated with the existing house's energy solution, whether it is a ground source heat pump, air heat pump, pellet boiler, oil boiler or electric boiler.

solTech roof system is especially helpful in snowy climates since snow easily slides down the glassy tiles.

It's an idea to improve people's living conditions. The roof tile engineers make it come true. Maybe the roof tile manufacturer should put more attention to local market's needs instead of sitting back, waiting and copying.

Solar Car Project?

Even though I put all of my attention on solar roof project around the world, a solar car project leaded by Stanford students distract me. Apparently, they are doing it good. A 1985 Matsuura CNC 3-axis mill, that's the raw material they are working on. Look at the picture on their blog , the mill was fully equiped with solar panels. I don't know the conversion rate of silicon cells they are using, but I think I can provide them some if they need. However, what they want to prove is simple that a solar power car can be made and drive. Great job, Stanford students!

GT Solar Receives $47.3 Million Order SDR400 CVD Reactors

GT Solar International, Inc . (NASDAQ: SOLR), a global provider of polysilicon production technology, and sapphire and silicon crystalline growth systems and materials for the solar, LED and other specialty markets, today announced that it has received a $47.3 million order from South Korea-based polysilicon producer OCI Company, Ltd. for its newest SDR™400 CVD reactors. This is OCI’s third order for GT Solar’s SDR400 CVD reactors. The new systems will be installed as the first phase of OCI’s new polysilicon capacity expansion plan, which OCI announced on December 8, 2010. The order will be included in GT Solar’s backlog for its current Q3 FY11, which ends on January 1, 2011. GT Solar SDRTM CVD Reactor Series are high volume production chambers that utilize the proven Siemens-type process technology to manufacture high quality semiconductor grade or solar grade polysilicon.

Greece Supply Solar Power After Germany Quit

After the disaster of Fukushima plant in Japan early this year, Germany decided to shut down all 17 of the country's nuclear reactors over 11 years. Meanwhile, Germany is looking for the countries which can provide solar clean energy. According to SolarDaily news , Greece plans to develop some 20,000 hectares of solar power parks in a bid to export renewable energy to Germany, a report said on Saturday. George Papandreou, Greek Prime Minister, said they're planning to build the world's largest solar park next January. The reason why Greece is positive in this project is the current high unemployment rate and shrink of economy.
